Hundreds of Harry Potter fans booed at King’s Cross station and it didn’t even have to do with JK Rowling

You have hundreds of fans Harry Potter franchise were seen at London’s King’s Cross station booing loudly in disapproval. Surprisingly, JK Rowling he had nothing to do with it.

As fans of the fantasy book and film series flooded the iconic London train station over the weekend, they expected a special announcement to be played over the loudspeakers.

In previous years, King’s Cross Station has marked the first day of September with a variety of ‘Back to Hogwarts’ celebrations, including decorations, cosplayers and a special conductor’s announcement at 11am sharp.

Here’s some footage from last year’s event, when thousands of fans jammed the station with a booming countdown to the announcement.

It’s a pretty cute tradition, even if you’re not one of the millennials who has their Hogwarts house in their Instagram bio.

However, this year the hundreds of fans who showed up on Platform 9 and 3/4 weren’t greeted with music, or announcements, or decorations.

As the clock struck 11am, the only sound to be heard was silence…followed by hundreds of people booing as their tradition was undone.

@mylondoncorner Back to Hogwarts 2024 Canceled ❌ Every September 1, Harry Potter fans gather at King’s Cross Station to celebrate the departure of the Hogwarts Express from Platform 9¾, an iconic moment of the series. However, this year the event was canceled because it caused too much inconvenience to passengers, creating problems of overcrowding and delays in the station, one of the busiest in London 🚂🥲 #mylondoncorner #harrypotter #hp #harrypotterita #danielradcliffe #harrypotteritalia #harrypotterfan # kingscross #kingscrossstation #london #london #london❤️ #london🇬🇧 ♬ original sound – MyLondonCorner
@sreestarsreestar I think we’re not going to school this year guys 😭 #kingscross #hogwartsannouncement #harrypotter #fail ♬ Harry Potter Themesong – Fail Recorder Cover – MEMESVICES

Maybe I’m an idiot, but it’s hilarious.

Those few seconds of silence between the cheers and boos as Harry Potter fans watch the fact that there will be no announcement? It is the perfect build-up and release of tension. Comedy gold.

The only thing that could make it better is if someone shouted, “THAT’S MY SON, THAT’S MY BOY!” That would have been a mint reference.

However, the cancellation of this year’s Back To Hogwarts event was not a last-minute change. Fans have been warned for months not to visit King’s Cross Station expecting a Potter party.

In July, Warner Brothers (which owns Harry Potter franchise) announced that no event will take place at the station this year.

“Come September 1, fans are discouraged from traveling to King’s Cross as there will be no event, departure board or countdown at the station,” the statement read.

The reason for the cancellation was quite simple: it severely disrupted the “station operations” that King’s Cross is supposed to be doing.

“While our station concourses are sometimes used for commercial events, our priority must always be passengers trying to make their rail journeys,” a station spokesperson told the BBC.

“Having started as a small number of fans welcoming the departure of the Hogwarts Express, the celebrations have grown significantly in popularity and last year’s event saw thousands of people at King’s Cross, making it a challenge for us as station operator.”

Fans were given alternative options to celebrate online or in places other than the train station, but that didn’t stop hundreds of people from still showing up in costume and holding a countdown.

It is not known if these fans missed the cancellation announcement or refused to cancel the event.

What is known is that raised ass Harry Potter the fans made a lot of noise and I’m glad I wasn’t in the same room with them.

I can’t wait for the TERF author lady to say she will “never forgive” the post for this. Ugh, I miss when her brain wasn’t destroyed by the black mold of her house.
